About Us

A bus trip, summer of 2006, introduced us to alpacas. We witnessed a live birth and picked up a financial brochure on the benefits of agisting. Since my daughter, Magina, and I live in town and have no land, our ranch can only be imaginary, but we can have alpacas, even a herd, by agisting with a nearby farm. Thus the name of our business will be Imaginary Alpaca Ranch as we grow our herd and learn all about alpacas and this wonderful business opportunity.

Imaginary Alpaca Ranch will concentrate on criating outstanding huacaya and suri alpacas from championship bloodlines. Our dams include stock from Champions, Accoyo, and Antacalla (Alianza) Peru. There are a couple of Chileans and a fraction of Bolivian. The majority is full peruvian.

Our first year in alpacas has given us a lot of baby boys. But 2 have been in the showring and consistently won, as have our maidens. Not bad for a first year effort. The others are still too young to show. We are currently boarding 1/2 each of our herd at 2 different local alpaca ranches in Lindsey and Tiffin, OH. We have learned to spin the fiber and can teach it now. We have also been at several Ohio shows with our stock and beyond. It really has been a GREAT YEAR. Nothing is more exciting than winning in the White Color Category (Firecracker)! Unless it is winning in the Black Ring (Jonah)!

We spent a lot of time with the ALSA Judges Seminars, both Fleece and Halter, and in the ring as an apprentice at Llama AND Alpaca shows since 2006. This really gave us a jumpstart in the Alpaca Business and helped teach us about the fiber and the conformation that is most desired in the industry today. Let us share our experience with you.

We sent fleeces to the mill and had it made into Rovings for Spinning or Felting and Yarn. We attend a weekly spinning group and the monthly Black Swamp Guild Meeting as well as Knifty Knitters at the Clyde Library, making goods for charity. We also have a line of superior quality baby fine alpaca sweaters consigned to the Vermillion Alpaca Boutique. At home, we carry the blue or pink alpaca hide teddy bears and Peruvian made colorful finger puppets to delight the children.

Our stock can also be seen at www.alpacanation.com. Spring of 2008, I have some acreage set aside for them in Lindsay, Ohio and can meet you there for "farm tours." Until then I can arrange to meet you at their current boarding ranch or you can come visit our house in town in Clyde, OH. We can talk alpacas or learn all about the fiber and learn to spin. I can help you solidify your Alpaca Business Plan, share advice on Tax Advantages, Section 179 Deductions, and Stock Depreciation of Alpacas. We can discuss your Marketing Plan and Advertising. My Alpaca Library of Texts on Alpaca Care and Breeding, as well as 5 years of Alpaca Magazine, as well as Auction Catalogs are available for your edification. Also are texts on Animal Breeding and Articles on Alpaca Genetics. I can give you advice on Web Resources and Research as well. Want to know about Showing and training your alpaca for the ring? Let’s talk ALPACAS!

We have our goal number of ten dams for breeding. Now we will consolidate our herd. Maybe adjust the foundation stock a little as our breeding goals solidify. All the boy crias are for sale, make an offer. As long as I pay boarding on ANY of my stock, I would rather it be on pregnant dams. All prices are negotiable, depending on how much we have invested into the stock, their running costs, and their depreciation and offspring. I can’t "give the farm away," but I can make excellent cost effective deals with you so that you, too, can get started in this business or upgrade your breeding program.

Stock Purchase Programs are available with 25% down and regular monthly payments with 0% to 8.75% interest negotiable. ARI Certificates transfer with final purchase payment. All stock are guaranteed healthy at time of purchase and all records are available to the serious buyer.

Unlike many alpaca ranchers, I have plenty of time on my hands to talk with you and help you as you learn all about alpacas. This is my only business, so if I’m not running out to the alpaca boarding farms, my new acreage in Lindsey this spring, or an alpaca show, or chaufeurring the family, then I am at home playing in the fiber (want to learn how to DYE it with KOOL-AID for colorful art projects?) and researching online.

Any questions, call me or email me. LOVE TO TALK ALPACAS!"
